Virgin diversion near Croxton Lane, August 2013
Andrew Macfarlane of our parent organisation MCRUA writes:
I've just received my latest copy of Branch
Line News, the journal of the Branch Line Society and it mentions that
Virgin Trains are diverting passenger trains via Middlewich on Sunday 16th
March. The trains involved are the 11.54, 12.40, 13.50 and 14.35 from Chester
and the 10.02 from Crewe.

Here is the Real Time Trains page showing the passenger services running through Middlewich http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/advanced/MDLW/2014/03/16/0000-2359?stp=WVS&show=passenger&order=actual (click the IDs in the center to view the timetables). Four of the six trains from Chester actually start from Holyhead in North Wales if you're a bit further afield.
ReplyDeleteIt's also worth noting that in the later afternoon (after 4pm) normal services on the Crewe-Chester line resume, so Virgin services won't be redirected from then.
I was on the Crewe to Holyhead train this morning for a very nice ride through Middlewich. Very amusing being on the bridges I go over/under every day to/from work. Nice of the Virgin Trains manager announcing that the train was being "redirected through Middlewich", letting everyone know that there is a train line running through Middlewich and trains can go on it. Might give our campaign a bit of a boost. Finally, one of the people on Virgin's Twitter team wished us well after I thanked them for mentioning the town in the train announcements - a good day ^_^
